Marvin Winn: The Maker

Hi, my name is Marvin Winn.  Since the age of 8, I have had a passion for knives.  I began sharpening knives at that young age.  I was fortunate to meet a master knife maker, John I. Shore, who is a voting member of the Knifemakers Guild.  He took me under his wing and became my mentor. 

I began training in 2001 and have been making knives since. It is extremely gratifying to take raw materials and produce a knife that is not only functional, but aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Each knife I make, I form the handle to fit ergonomically in the hand.  I take this into account when I am making a custom knife for someone.  Additionally, I listen to what type of knife they are looking for, what it will be used for, what type of handle they are most comfortable with and come up with a custom design specific to their needs.  I do have standard designs that I produce, but my passion is to create a knife  design that fits my customers needs and comfort.  I strive to create something unique that my customer is satisfied with in form and function.

My Guarantee

My knives are guaranteed for as long as I am still kicking. If the knife is used for its intended purpose, not a screw driver, hammer, pry bar, axe, then I will fix or replace it. Given the quality of the steel I use, some might find them hard to sharpen.  I will re-sharpen any knife, bought from me, anytime it needs it. The only cost to you would be shipping both ways.

The Team

My business is family owned and operated.  While I make the knives, my wife, Cindy, runs the day to day business.  My artistically talented daughter creates works of art for some of my sheaths.
